ECOS emulsions and varnishes are a completely unique range of decorative finishes. It's the only range of totally solvent-free paint and varnishes available anywhere in the world today and has been independently tested to reveal 0.0% VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds).
As a result emulsions are ideal for children's bedrooms, nurseries, kitchens and anywhere in the home, especially if you or a member of your family is chemically sensitive or suffers from asthma or allergies. Using ECOS emulsions means that rooms are safe and pleasant to live in-play in-sleep in-eat in!
Most
paint currently on sale, both gloss and emulsion, contain solvents and
VOCs.
ECOS emulsions contain none.

What is NOT in ECOS
products?
solvents and white spirit, turpentine, VOC'S glycols, coalescents,
animal products
heavy metals, - lead, cadmium, mercury etc
formaldehyde and formaldehyde donors, acrolein
Q - Why is solvent-free important?
A - Because not only are lingering paint smells in the home unpleasant,
but many paint including most matt and silk paint contain solvents which
are positively harmful and cause Sick Building Syndrome, Danish Painters
Syndrome, asthma, allergies and chemical sensitivities.
Q - Why not use natural binders and resins rather than
synthetic ones?
A - Some are animal products (bone, hide) - others take days to dry
(oil based) - others (rosins) - need solvents to function (turpentine,
white spirit) - in short, there ARE no adequate natural alternatives
Q - why not use natural pigments/earth colours?
A - some are highly toxic (vermillion,) - the others are limited to
subdued shades - browns, reds, yellows , black etc
Q - Are ECOS products suitable for use in babies rooms or for those
with chemical sensitivites, asthma, allergies, M.E. etc
A - Yes, ideally so.
Conventional central heating radiators can offgas large amounts of formaldehyde* and can easily be the largest source of formaldehyde in the home! ECOS AFR emulsion absorbs approx. 98-99% formaldehyde down to around 1ppm before it can offgas into your home or office environment. Available in matt white, this AFR base coat is best finished with ECOS Feng Shui if a coloured finish is required.
